I am just a regular sister who wanted to
give support to all of those beautiful sisters who find
their hair to be challenging. As a mother of two girls,
I know how important our hair is to our self-esteem. The
book, The Black Hair Care Revolution was written to
provide the basics of hair maintenance. The website was
designed to discuss and to support it. I wanted to
create a place where we can feel proud and empowered
about our hair, permed or natural. I want to inform,
educate and promote self Love and Hair activism.
When I was a young girl, I hated my hair.
I wanted straight or even curly hair long down my back.
I didn’t understand why my hair “never” grew. It wasn’t
until my adult years that I started learning about how
to take care of my hair which resulted in my loving what
God gave me, a head full of beautiful hair. Instead of
having that dry, brittle hair with split ends; I have a
head full of long shiny healthy hair, and it is so easy.
We spend billions of dollars every year
on hair care and have little to no control over the
industry that we support. I fell that it is time to
leverage financial power. Return products that don’t
work. Complain properly to the companies that make bad
Hair Care Products. If you can’t find products that work
for you, make your own.
No one in the world has hair like ours.
Celebrate it. Know that if you want long healthy hair,
it is within arms' reach. Have short hair because you
want too, not because you have to.
